I took this picture because it reminded me of the fact that as a bass player, my most important item is my amp. So I have to be watching my amp endlessly to make sure I don’t blow out the speakers in it. When I took this photo it was around 11 AM on saturday, right after it had finished raining, so the grass was soaked and the sky was still dark, but I felt that it was right for the mood I was trying to set. The way it is so inanimate shows exactly how it is only a tool, but when I plug it in it comes to life and gives me the power to play. The challenge of this photo was finding the correct lighting while maintaining the setting I wanted. I managed to catch a break when it stopped raining long enough for me to take my pictures. I used a lot of saturation in this photo because of the common stereotype that classic rock bands were experimental with a lot of things. This also shows just how strange it is for a machine like this to be sitting in the grass outside. It throws you off and makes you think like many bands have in the past. This is all about doing things outside the box. If you can’t risk what’s most important to you, then what is it really worth? My amp was a gift that opened my world up and I feel this picture shows this.
